Elena represents clients in complex and multi-plaintiff cases. She has served as co-counsel in several class action lawsuits, including in In re JPMorgan Stable Value Fund ERISA Litigation (S.D.N.Y), a case that resulted in a $75 million settlement for 401(k) plan participants who alleged that JPMorgan imprudently invested their retirement savings. She also served as co-counsel in Tracey v. Mass. Inst. of Tech. (D. Mass.), an ERISA fiduciary breach case in which employees and retirees alleged that MIT’s retirement plan overcharged participants and offered poorly performing investments. Class counsel obtained a settlement of $18.1 million as well as nonmonetary relief for the plan participants.

In addition to class litigation, Elena represents individuals in employment matters including discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, harassment, and wage disputes, among others, in state and federal courts as well as through pre-litigation efforts.

Elena received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and graduated with high honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law where she was Executive Articles Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review. While in law school, she served an externship with Judge Joan B. Gottschall of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

After law school, she joined an international law firm, Winston & Strawn, LLP, honing her advocacy skills, and after a short time went to work on behalf of indigent workers at the Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center in San Francisco. Since then, she has worked to advance plaintiffs' rights.
